Kudos to Andrew Dando Antiques for being listed by The Independent as one of Britain's 50 best antique shops. The Dandos and their many customers must be so proud :)...and many of us would place the shop right at the top of the list!  I looked at Andrew's site today and wondered why he still had this little figure.

Doesn't it ooze charm? I particularly love the giant flowers on the bocage.

This little doe proves my point that you don't need to blow a fortune to get a fabulous figure, the Real Thing. Someone did blow a lot of money in North Carolina this week. A 20th century figure, a reproduction of the Victorian figure titled Gin and Water with "repairs to neck and head" and an estimate of $300-$600 (a typo? was $3-$6 intended?)  made $1600 on the hammer!!

Back to the giant flower bocage. There is an example of this on a particularly sweet figure in my book....and I do have one other example, which I shall have to photograph for another time.

Meanwhile, shop with care. The world seems to be awash in reproduction figures. It is quite easy to tell the difference because the repros are so ugly. If in doubt, please ask!
