Enamel-painted figures made in Staffordshire from 1810 to 1835 give us rare glimpses of life as it once was.                                                              To hold one is to touch the past.

Welcome to my site devoted to early English enamel-painted earthenware figures. I share my knowledge with scholars, collectors, and those who simply like beautiful antique objects, and I assist novices and professionals with equal enthusiasm--and always at no charge.

I consult on authenticity and correct restoration and will help locate a particular purchase or guide in building or dispersing a collection. I advise on the most trivial issue....but beware! If you want to know a figure's origins or understand the fascinating tale it tells, the answer may not be brief because I have so much I want you to know too.

I am a member of the American Ceramics Circle, the English Ceramics Circle, and the Staffordshire Figure Association. I have lectured at the Mint Museum, the New York Ceramics Fair, the Staffordshire Figure Association, the Wolfson Children's Hospital Antiques Show, the China Students' Club of Boston, the Pottery and Porcelain Club of Providence, the Atlanta Ceramic Circle, and the Ima Hogg Ceramic Circle, Houston.

To schedule a lecture or simply ask a question, please contact me at myrna@schkolne.com. Remember, my expertise is earthenware figures of the 1780-1840 period. If your figure is Victorian (most spaniels, flatback figures etc.) or if it has a transfer printed mark beneath, please look elsewhere for assistance.
